The challenge: When Mizzou decided to take its fundraising to the next level, it needed alignment at all levels of the organization.

Teaming up with Plus Delta, and with a shared vision for excellence and a commitment to making a big impact, Mizzou tackled multiple challenges at once, setting the stage for a remarkable journey. Mizzou adopted a shared language and methodology, strengthening its culture, empowering fundraisers to ask deeper questions, build stronger relationships, and secure more impactful gifts. This bold partnership demonstrates the power of a data-driven, disciplined approach to fundraising, setting a new standard for excellence in philanthropy.

The Work

Mizzou launched four cohorts of the Discipline of Frontline Fundraising program, serving experienced fundraisers and managers alike. Managers then completed the five-month Management of Frontline Fundraising program to strengthen coaching, accountability, and team productivity.

Chancellor Mun Y. Choi engaged in individual coaching with senior Advancement leaders and their Plus Delta Partners consultant, while deans and their fundraising partners participated in the Advancement Partners Program, to build leadership and philanthropic growth.

University leaders described the program as a practical playbook that sharpened strategy, structure, and fundraising effectiveness.

The Impact

Today, Mizzou's fundraising culture has shifted, embracing a shared language and methodology that has become an integral part of their DNA, driving success and excellence in fundraising.

Plus Delta and Mizzou continue to work together on additional Management of Frontline Fundraising, Advancement Partners Program, and Discipline of Frontline Fundraising cohorts, and topical workshops for the entire advancement team - including Becoming a Manager Bootcamp, Qualification Day Challenge, and Receiving and Delivering Feedback.

  • The Plus Delta Partners training has elevated the skills of fundraisers in all phases of their careers. One of the elements that resonated with the team was the development of our understanding—at a level many of us didn’t even truly internalize before—of the nature of our work in philanthropy as conduits and advisors to constituents who seek to make a difference through our organization. The emphasis on impact has changed the strategy and narrative across our organization, and the causes we seek to support are significantly better for it.
