Dave Sowers
Principal Consultant
“At Plus Delta, there is something special and satisfying about helping experienced and successful gift officers further expand their fundraising skills. It is so fulfilling to see their increasing levels of confidence and pride in the impact they are having on the people (donors, faculty, students, and fellow fundraisers) of their institutions.”
Dave offers more than 20 years of experience in management and fundraising to Plus Delta clients. As a counselor, coach, fundraiser and manager, he has built and led effective teams, with focus on the delicate balance between the quantitative “sales” nature of fundraising and the qualitative people skills needed to move relationships and programs forward.
Prior to joining PDP, Dave served as Director of Development at Franklin & Marshall College where he created a collaborative, goal-driven and innovative culture for the College’s gift officers. He led F&M’s major gifts program through the most successful fundraising period in the institution’s history, during which annual commitments and receipts rose 150 percent and the size of the average gift nearly doubled. Dave has also held major gifts, alumni relations and annual giving roles at Johns Hopkins University where he was a key player, closing major gift commitments in the University’s $3.7 billion “Knowledge for the World” campaign. In addition to his Advancement work, Dave started his career as the Gettysburg College assistant men’s basketball coach.
Dave earned a B.A. in Psychology from Gettysburg College and an M.S. in Counseling from McDaniel College. He enjoys volunteering and has served on the C.A.S.E District II Board as well as the Gettysburg College Alumni Board, and currently serves on the Gettysburg Orange and Blue Club Advisory Council. He lives in Lancaster, PA with his wife Angie, and their sons Brian, Jake and Luke.
